COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On May 2, New Leaf Foods helped three Green Bay schools expand their community orchards. Jackson Elementary planted two cherry trees + Franklin and McAuliffe Elementary planted apple, pear, and cherry trees for future use in school food programs.  FOX 11
  • During the NFL Draft on April 26, free shuttles and buses brought safe rides for local fans, logging 2,627 rides + 9,013 passengers. The program used 40 shuttle vans + 91 drivers over 61 hours and was made possible by volunteer work, grants, donations, and Tavern League funds.  WNCY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • At the 2025 World Beer Cup, three Wisconsin breweries won awards as judges from over 200 professionals evaluated 8,375 beers from 1,761 entries, and Green Bay’s Hinterland Brewery earned bronze in the German style Altbier category.  WeAreGreenBay.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Green Bay Police Department+Brown County Sheriff’s Office are accepting applications for the Teen Police Academy summer program that lets 30 high school students learn about law enforcement through tours, skill tests, and demonstrations. The course runs from June 9 to 12 at GBPD, provides lunch, and requires a background check with parental consent for minors.  94.3 Jack FM

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Green Bay Botanical Garden unveiled a new exhibit of nine animal sculptures made from trash and debris from the Pacific Ocean. The traveling exhibit Washed Ashore shared facts about how plastics harm animal habitats & offered tips to reduce ocean pollution.  WeAreGreenBay.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Green Bay’s Department of Public Works said the Donald A. Tilleman Memorial Bridge will close from 6 a.m.—3 p.m. on May 5 and the Bart Starr Memorial Bridge will close from 6 a.m.—3 p.m. on May 6 for annual spring cleaning. The closures will affect about 45,300 daily motorists who must take detours while the Main Street bridge remains open.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local veteran Michael Heidtman, who is battling stage four salivary gland cancer, will move to Houston for clinical trials—giving him a better chance to extend his life—and HunterSeven Foundation is raising $100,000 to cover his moving costs.  WeAreGreenBay.com
