CRIME NEWS

  • Jesse Dahl pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of first-degree reckless homicide for the December 2022 shooting death of a 42-year-old man on Green Bay’s east side—sentencing is set for July 28.  WNCY
  • Jesse Dahl pleaded guilty to a reduced charge for a shooting death behind the 1300 block of Smith Street in December 2022—his sentencing was set for July 28.  WTAQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Green Bay's new west-side elementary school will be named Starr Elementary to honor Packers great Bart Starr and his wife Cherry—school board members confirmed the name Monday night. Students from Kennedy, Keller and MacArthur Elementary Schools will attend the new school built on the former Kennedy site, where plans include displaying busts of the couple.  FOX 11

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Endangered piping plovers have returned to the Cat Island Chain near Green Bay as experts note that one bird, known as Ms. Packer, has come back after previously fledging 10 chicks since 2019. She will soon nest on the off-limits Cat Island Causeway—officials ask local bird watchers to view from a safe distance.  WTAQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local police and city officials held a news conference Monday to review the NFL Draft—an event that drew over 600,000 fans in three days with only one arrest and 8 ejections. Crews are still cleaning up in Titletown while transit services saw a nearly 250% jump in bus trips during the event.  FOX 11

  • Green Bay hosted last week's NFL Draft that drew over 600,000 fans (far above the projected 250,000) and received praise from NFL officials and national media for the city's warm welcome.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
