  • De Pere woman Iride Luehr won $125,000 after buying a Holly Jolly Raffle lottery ticket from a Kwik Trip (2618 Monroe Road, Bellevue); her winning numbers were drawn among 150,000 tickets and she claimed her prize on Dec. 15 at the lottery office in Milwaukee.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Menards paid Wisconsin $750,000 after a deceptive advertising investigation and agreed to update its mail-in rebate program. The store will allow claims up to one year after purchase and must clearly disclose rebate limitations.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

  • Green Bay local Justin Ell displays over 3,500 Wizard of Oz items at the historic Orpheum Theatre — he began collecting at age three and plans to expand his collection until Oz’s 100th anniversary in 2039 triggers his travels.  NBC 26
  • ThedaCare revealed its top baby names for 2025 at five hospitals in northeast and central Wisconsin, naming Charlotte as the most popular for girls and Theo/Theodore for boys (data collected Jan. 1–Dec. 1).  FOX 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Documents obtained through an open records request revealed that former East High coach Niko Sila was fired last month after the school board reviewed 55 allegations of falsifying attendance records & unauthorized student transportation.  FOX 11
  • Wisconsin school district property taxes will rise 7.8% on December bills, reflecting a total increase of $476 million and marking the largest annual jump since 1992 (lawmakers froze general school aid to cover rising costs), and rates may rise further next year.  WNCY
