COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On Saturday, about 70 cyclists rode seven miles around Lambeau Field after gathering at Badger State Brewing Company to raise funds for Children’s Wisconsin during the annual Santa Cycle event — hosted by Chris Roth. The ride raised over twenty thousand dollars for the cause.  WBAY
  • Yesterday, Dec. 13, runners and walkers in Green Bay joined the inaugural Run Run Rudolph Fun Run, donning reindeer antlers and being cheered on by Santa Claus (a nod to the season).  Green Bay Press-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • The 144-year-old schooner Jennibel, which sank after a gale in 1881 near Chambers Island, was added to the Wisconsin State Register of Historic Places on Dec. 11 (it is Door County’s 33rd registered shipwreck); divers must not remove artifacts from the site.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • Millions of LEGO blocks fill Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary as local community members display winter holiday scenes built by FOXLUG. The event continues today from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. featuring builds like LEGO ice skaters and holiday parade displays.  FOX 11

  • At The Weidner, UW-Green Bay December Commencement speaker Raquel Botbyl addressed almost 200 graduates, urging them to keep building and showing up even when life feels uncertain — she also thanked family, friends and professors for their support.  UW-Green Bay
  • At UW-Green Bay's morning Commencement today, James Harris, a dual major in Political Science and Democracy and Justice Studies, inspired graduates to overcome obstacles and work hard to change the world (citing his own journey with support from family and faculty).  UW-Green Bay
  • Norbert S. Hill Jr., a respected member of the Oneida Nation and a leader in American Indian education, will speak at UW-Green Bay's December commencement.
