- ➤ On Dec. 11, Green Bay Metro Firefighters delivered holiday gifts to young patients at HSHS St. Vincent Children's Hospital as part of a long-running partnership with Central Church — a program that has brightened hospital days for over a decade. FOX 11
- ➤ Green Bay Redevelopment Authority approved an extra $204,000 Tuesday for Veterans 1st’s tiny home village (for homeless veterans) on the former Brown County Mental Health Center site on St. Anthony Drive, where 21 houses and a community center began construction this summer and will finish in two years. - ➤ Santa Cycle returns this weekend with 10 cyclists in Santa costumes riding fat bikes at Badger State Brewing Company in Ashwaubenon, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday; the fundraiser benefits Children’s Wisconsin and includes fat bike giveaways despite below-zero wind chills. WBAY
- ➤ Donald Driver and his foundation distributed holiday meal vouchers to hundreds of families at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley on Thursday. The effort also provided winter items and is supported by a three-year partnership with Fox Communities Credit Union. FOX 11
- ➤ The Green Bay Packers will host their final charity autograph session on Monday, Dec. 15 at 5 p.m. at Festival Foods in Suamico. - ➤ Due to bitter cold, the Christkindlmarket on Broadway will operate from noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday while its usual hours on Thursday and Friday remain from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Officials advise visitors to dress warmly. FOX 11
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay public schools face an added $2 million funding gap after the state lowered special education reimbursements from 42% to about 35%. The district had already closed a $3 million gap and now may need to implement hiring freezes and program cuts. FOX 11
- ➤ UW-Green Bay will award 506 degrees during two ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 13 at The Weidner in Green Bay. Many graduates (including first-generation and transfer students) will soon join the regional workforce, with sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. UW-Green Bay
