Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 28th of November.
Good morning, Green Bay.
Local fire stations began a holiday fire safety program yesterday that uses wreath lights filled with green bulbs which turn red with each local fire.
The campaign will run through New Year’s Day — urging residents to be extra careful in the kitchen during peak cooking times.
Jacksonport held its 29th annual Neighbors Helping Neighbors parade to benefit Melanie Ramirez and her eight-year-old daughter Lucia who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Residents carried donation buckets to help cover rising medical bills and daily expenses as Lucia undergoes 24/7 immunotherapy through the end of November and will start two months of intense chemo and steroid therapy in December—showing the town’s strong support.
Today, Green Bay hosts holiday events including the Winter Jubilee light show from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Hy-Vee Plaza at Titletown and A Frank's Christmas premiere at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Meyer Theatre.
Tomorrow, the Holiday Gift and Craft Show will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Resch Expo and the UWGB men's basketball team will play at 1 p.m. at the Kress Events Center—several other holiday events are scheduled around town.
Families from across northeast Wisconsin visited the North Pole Christmas Village on opening night in Chilton to enjoy authentic holiday displays built by Troy Campbell, who began the event 19 years ago in Kaukauna.
Campbell said he creates the festive scene to help visitors—whether facing happy or tough times—experience the true spirit of Christmas.
The historic Joannes House at 902 S.
Madison St. in Astor Park was built in 1900 for wholesale grocery magnate Mitchell Joannes and was listed for sale in November after many updates. The home features a wrap-around porch — and original carved woodwork and leaded glass that show its age.
