Good morning, Green Bay. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 25th of November.

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • AAA is launching its free Tow to Go program during Thanksgiving week to offer rides and vehicle tows to impaired drivers within a 10-mile radius—service runs from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Dec. 1. The program is available to members and non-members to help keep roads safe from alcohol-related crashes.  94.3 Jack FM

CULTURE NEWS

  • Green Bay hosted the Hmong New Year celebration last weekend at UW-Green Bay’s Kress Events Center to mark 50 years since the Hmong resettlement — drawing community members with dancing, sports tournaments, veteran honors and live performances. Kerry Yang said the event helps keep culture alive as younger generations learn traditions from their elders.  UW-Green Bay
  • Green Bay Botanical Garden officials hosted a tree lighting ceremony on Monday to kick off the Garden of Lights season, which will start on Friday—visitors can explore a one-mile path featuring over 40 nature-themed light displays and interactive attractions. Tickets, ride options, and themed nights are available to enhance the holiday experience.  FOX 11
  • Northeast Wisconsin's Glam Band has celebrated nearly 20 years of energetic 80s covers as it rose to local fame. The band's lead singer was diagnosed with stage four cancer last January and never missed a show—his cancer is now in remission thanks to the support of his band and community.  NBC 26

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Board of Regents approved a new general education policy that will standardize up to 12 courses and 36 credit hours across UW campuses beginning in September—this change aims to make transferring credits easier for students. Some professors and student groups opposed the update, while UW leaders said it will bring more clarity and fairness to the process.  UW-Green Bay
  • Yesterday, the Green Bay School Board debated a plan to require students to keep backpacks in lockers for classroom safety — a rule that has worked in local middle schools. Some board members and student council representatives disagreed over the change — with supporters saying it cuts distractions and opponents arguing it limits personal access.  FOX 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Green Bay officials plan to relocate the coal piles from the west bank of the Fox River to a new site near its mouth as bids ranged from $41.8 million to $47.6 million (under the projected $50 million cost). The county committee will review the bids on Dec. 2 and may forward them to the full County Board on Dec. 17.  FOX 11
  • Officials in Brown County issued 15 cease and desist letters to cottage bakeries for breaking Wisconsin’s Cottage Food Law by selling food that needs refrigeration weeks before the holiday season. Bakers said the law has forced them to do expensive tests—making it hard for them to sell holiday treats.  NBC 26
