COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A family in De Pere is hosting a food giveaway this Sunday to serve homemade meals to over 100 community members. Free meals will be available from 11 a.m.—4 p.m., with donations already supporting the preparations.  WBAY
  • Current and former Packers players joined House of Hope at its 16th annual Touchdowns for Hope event Friday night—designed to raise funds for emergency shelter and housing stability for children and young parents facing homelessness. The fundraiser—hosted by safety Evan Williams, Dayanara Herrera, former wide receiver Geronimo Allison and Dr. Evette Allison—supported efforts to end youth homelessness in our community.  WBAY
  • The 51st annual Gallerie of Shoppes started Friday evening at Oneida Casino Hotel and will continue today until 3 p.m., featuring 27 specialty stores with gifts, jewelry, apparel, and more — ticket sales and part of every purchase support scholarships for women in Brown County.  FOX 11
  • The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay started its Coats for Kids event on Friday, giving 4,400 kids the chance to choose a coat they like best for the winter. Pre-registered families have until Saturday morning to pick from over 5,000 coats available+ ensuring every child finds a perfect fit.  WBAY
  • Today at Electric City Lanes in Kaukauna, owners host a fundraiser called The Christmas Embrace from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. to support two families with holiday shopping & offer live music, food, and raffle prizes including Packers and Brewers tickets.  WBAY
  • Rooted In, Inc. hosted an emergency cooking event Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church to turn recovered food from Lambeau Field into packaged meals for local pantries — the nonprofit gathered over 200 pounds of ingredients to feed those in need during federal shutdown talks.  WBAY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hall of Fame rock band Journey will perform their farewell 'Final Frontier Tour' at the Resch Center on June 21 at 7:30 p.m.; tickets for Citi card members go on sale at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11 (and general sale starts at 10 a.m. on Nov. 14).  WBAY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UW-Green Bay’s Veteran Services Department is hosting a weeklong tribute to honor military members and their families. The events start today with a military appreciation volleyball game at 2 p.m. at the Kress Event Center and continue on November 10 with a POW/MIA ceremony at Leona Cloud Commons, on November 11 with a Chancellor’s Reception at 4 p.m. at the Weidner Foyer, and on November 13 with a free Veterans Pizza Lunch at Mary Ann Cofrin Hall.  UW-Green Bay

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Green Bay is reviewing a plan to use $750k of ARPA funds to pay for an urban barn as part of a new neighborhood on the east side—this project links affordable housing with a community food hub for local farmers and is backed by a $585k grant from Wello. The city council will vote next week, and if approved the barn will be built by the end of next year while work on nearby farmable land follows.  WTAQ
  • Travelers experienced delays as the FAA reduced 10% of flights at 40 major airports starting Friday due to an ongoing government shutdown. Green Bay’s Austin Straubel International was not affected but connecting flights in major hubs faced delays—officials advise checking with airlines for updates.  94.3 Jack FM
  • Green Bay’s city council is considering using $750k in ARPA funds for an urban barn at the JBS site on the east side—a project designed to create a food transformation hub. A council vote is set for next week while Wello will raise the remaining $250k for the $1M barn, which is planned to be built by the end of next year.  WNCY
