COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Green Bay Packers are hosting Salute to Service Week events to honor veterans and give back ahead of Veterans Day. Today at Johnsonville Tailgate Village from 8:30 a.m. to noon, the BRAVE program will lead a free traumatic brain injury seminar for veterans—service companions are welcome.  NBC 26
  • On October 31st, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay received 150 refurbished laptops from AT&T and Human-I-T to help close the digital divide and supply school materials to kids with limited internet access—AT&T also donated $25,000 to boost digital literacy and add more computers.  WNCY
  • Green Bay-area restaurants and grocery stores are offering free meals as FoodShare benefits are delayed due to the government shutdown—Hy-Vee is serving free hot meals to kids from November 3 to 7 while other local businesses set up food pantry donations.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • A disabled veteran and his family began building a home with Habitat for Humanity last month and were joined by Packers practice squad players on Monday ahead of their Salute to Service game next Monday. The family will move into their new home in the spring + the project honors local veterans ahead of Veterans’ Day.  WBAY

  • Two time capsules from 1970 and 1983 were recovered after the demolition of the former Wisconsin Public Service headquarters in downtown Green Bay — they are now held at the WPS training facility in Ashwaubenon.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Tests confirmed that Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft tore his ACL on Sunday after colliding with guard Sean Rhyan during the Carolina Panthers game — he was carted off the field.  NBC 26
  • Two former Green Bay Packers players—cornerback Tramon Williams and tackle Earl Dotson—will be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame at a banquet on July 30 at the Lambeau Field Atrium. Ticket details—still pending—will be shared soon.  WTAQ
  • Green Bay officials and the United Soccer League announced plans to explore bringing a men’s and women’s professional soccer team to the city—focusing on a stadium project with a minimum 5,000-seat capacity and potential for expansion. The Redevelopment Authority will review an exclusive letter of intent today and the proposal may be presented to the City Council on Nov. 11.  94.3 Jack FM
