COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Members of the public are invited to welcome home 160 Vietnam-era veterans and others on November 1 at Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport. The veterans will travel to Washington D.C. to visit memorial sites while former players from the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks sponsor the flight—gathering begins at 7:30 p.m. after the concourse opens at 6 p.m.  WNCY
  • Members of the public are invited to welcome home 160 Vietnam-era veterans and others as they depart from Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport on Nov. 1 for a trip to Washington, D.C.—sponsored by local teams including the Packers, Brewers and Bucks. CULTURE NEWS

  • Demolition began on Oct. 20 at the Children's Museum of Green Bay as phase one of a major expansion started on the pole building next door. The museum, which will grow from 10,000 to 26,000 square feet, has raised over $4.2 million but still needs $2 million from local businesses and residents—funds it hopes to collect by year-end to serve its growing visitor base.  WTAQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • More than 60 students from 13 high schools attended Miron Construction’s annual Career Showcase on Tuesday in Menasha, where they built, welded, and surveyed to learn about construction trades. The hands-on event provided teens a clear look at trade careers and introduced them to skills rarely shown in a classroom.  NBC 26
  • UW-Green Bay received a $659K grant from Freshwater Collaborative to fund research projects and offer hands-on water science training for students. The funding will support immersive projects — like a pre-college freshwater experience and joint work with other UW campuses — aimed at addressing nutrient runoff and water quality challenges in northeastern Wisconsin.  WTAQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. Tammy Baldwin said that losing Affordable Care Act premium tax credits will drive up health insurance costs for Wisconsin farmers. Many farm families already facing rising tariffs and high input prices worry that the new increases will force them to pay hundreds of dollars more each month—adding further strain amid the government shutdown.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • Brown County will expand a trail along the west side of the Fox River at the fairgrounds and extend a camping area along the river bank to boost event revenue. The project will start and finish in 2026 — county officials say the new trail will eventually connect with the busy Fox River Trail.  94.3 Jack FM

  • Brown County Health Officer Anna Nick and County Executive Troy Streckenbach received their flu shots Tuesday and urged residents to get vaccinated as respiratory illnesses rise in the fall. Two free clinics will be held soon+ one at the Neville Public Museum on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and another for children at Brown County Central Library on Oct. 28 from 4 to 6:30 p.m.  FOX 11
