COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Since 2020, volunteer drivers Don Schumann and Joe Talamanco have delivered food across eastern Wisconsin for Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin (servicing 600 hunger relief partners in 35 counties) and begin early on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. They plan to keep delivering food to local pantries as long as they are able.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • Fraud experts at the Scam Jam event at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay on Oct. 16 warned residents about scammers who use crypto ATMs + AI to trick people into sending cash that ends up in criminals’ virtual wallets. Speakers noted a 99% rise in ATM-related scams and urged everyone to verify urgent payment requests before acting.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • The Salute to Service fundraiser will take place at Stadium View in Ashwaubenon on Sunday, October 19 from 2-7 p.m.—it will offer pizza, bucket raffles, a silent auction, and a kids coloring contest while non-military guests donate $15 to honor veterans and sponsor a tiny home.  FOX 11
  • Green Bay is set for Halloween with four local events coming up for families and adults. A two-day bar crawl offers check-ins on Oct 16 and today—with parties on Oct 31 and Nov 1—while a Howling Halloween Hike at Bay Beach runs on Oct 24, Heritage Hill hosts a costume day on Oct 25, and Dave & Buster's provides three hours of arcade play on Oct 31, with ticket prices ranging from $8 to $25.37.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

BUSINESS NEWS

  • von Stiehl winery in Algoma won three gold medals for its Riesling, Cherry Kirsche and Dry Cherry and one silver for its Cabernet Sauvignon at the 2025 USA Wine Ratings competition held in San Francisco in July. Head winemaker Aric Schmiling said the awards validated their winemaking skill — a sign of quality in taste, value and packaging — as experts judged the wines.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, veterans from Northeast Wisconsin will work with Nashville artists to write songs and share their service stories at Operation Song’s 4th Annual Salute to Green Bay at the Epic Event Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 6:30 p.m.—the event captures a range of military experiences through music.  WBAY

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In September, 162,050 tons of cargo moved through the Port of Green Bay—limestone led with 61,532 tons. Port Director Dean Haen said totals dipped from August but trends suggest the season will finish similar to recent years.  Green Bay News Network

  • The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was honored on Oct. 14 for its public safety efforts during the NFL Draft in Green Bay—State Rep. Ryan Spaude and State Sen. Jamie Wall presented the award at the Capitol in Madison.  WTAQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ascension Wisconsin announced Tuesday it reached a new agreement with UnitedHealthcare that keeps patients on their commercial, Medicare and Medicaid plans from losing in-network care—ensuring continued access to quality treatment at its facilities. The deal supports fair reimbursement—helping the group maintain compassionate care for local residents.  NBC 26
