BUSINESS NEWS

  • Four Northeast Wisconsin companies are among the final eight contestants in the 'Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin' contest run by Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce—this event spotlights local products and manufacturing. Voters will cast daily votes until the final round from Oct. 16-23 before the winner is announced on Oct. 23.  FOX 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, A Wisconsin Christmas Pie streams on Great American PureFlix and will air on Great American Family at 7 p.m.—the film follows a pastry chef returning to Door County for the holidays who must choose between a new career and the legacy of her family's cherry orchard business. It was shot in March and April with local extras including Ahman Green and features settings such as Lautenbach’s Orchard and Door County Auditorium, with public screenings scheduled on December 14 and 15.  WTAQ

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local high schools will present musical theater shows as WHBY compiles a detailed list of performance dates from October 31 to next May. Contact each school for ticket details — a Fox Cities Performing Arts Center program is set for May 16 at 7:30 p.m.  WHBY
  • Green Bay School District said high school start times remain unchanged for the 2026-27 school year (despite earlier discussions) while proposing a new schedule that will shift schools to seven periods instead of eight. The School Board will review the updated plan on Oct. 13 and vote on changes on Oct. 27.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Following a fatal ATV accident last week in Brown County, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reminded riders to wear DOT-approved helmets, secure seatbelts at all times, and use smaller ATVs for children—steps aimed at improving safety on public trails.  WTAQ
  • Brown County finished Phase 1 of the East River Water Trail project by clearing brush and debris and installing free kayak launches at Wiese Park and Ledgeview Park to improve water quality and outdoor recreation. Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach’s 2026 budget proposal will start Phase 2 this winter—expanding habitat restoration and tree and shrub plantings from De Pere to Green Bay with over $1 million in grant funding planned for the next three to five years.  94.3 Jack FM

HEALTH NEWS

  • Plastic Surgery & Skin Specialists by BayCare Clinic is hosting BRAs of the Bay next week at Resch Expo to raise money and awareness for breast reconstruction during Breast Cancer Awareness Month — more than 50 decorated bras from local participants will be on display while voting will be available online and in person. The event supports women facing challenges with insurance coverage for reconstructive surgery.  FOX 11

  • Green Bay will host a range of fall events this weekend such as Zoo Boo at the NEW Zoo in Suamico on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11, a pumpkin patch train ride at the National Railroad Museum in Ashwaubenon on Oct. 11, and Cirque Italia’s water circus at Bay Park Square with shows through the weekend — additional events include the comedy show 'Don't Squeeze the Charmin' at the Meyer Theatre today and on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11, a ballet at The Weidner, a true crime ghost talk in Ashwaubenon, free pumpkin carving at Titletown, and hockey games by the Gamblers.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

  • The Portside Lofts opened Oct. 7 in Algoma to offer affordable apartments for families earning 30-80% of the area's median income—city officials and community members joined a ribbon cutting that marked a key step in addressing the housing shortage.
