- ➤ Green Bay West High School held its annual 9/11 stair climb yesterday at Del Marcelle Stadium—firefighters and National Guard members joined students to help them feel the weight of first responders' work during the attacks. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UW-Green Bay’s Rising Phoenix dual credit program received $1 million in state funds to let more high school students take college classes while still in school—this funding will expand the program to new districts and cut college costs. State lawmakers and university leaders say the boost will help keep students local and speed up their path to a degree. WNCY
- ➤ After a student brought a gun and bullets to Preble High School at lunch on Tuesday, police took the student into custody and the district will require all students in grades 6-12 to use clear, colorless backpacks or bags starting Monday, September 22 — a roundtable on school safety is scheduled for Monday, September 15 at 6 p.m. at Preble High School. - ➤ A student brought a gun and ammo to Preble High School during a lunchtime fight and was taken into custody, so the school district will require clear, colorless backpacks or tote bags for all 6-12 students starting Sept. 22—district officials announced. - ➤ Green Bay’s Redevelopment Authority approved key agreements and funding on Sept. 11 that keep the joint public-private project for a new central city fire station and 85 affordable apartments on track for a summer 2026 groundbreaking at 420 S.
