COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A mosaic art installation named Community Bloom opened on August 27th in downtown Green Bay at 1335 Main Street—led by local artists Laura Schley and Annie Stenseth with help from community members who joined during ArtFest weekend. After the dedication, residents planted in a repurposed 2,400-pound concrete planter to turn a piece of the city's past into art for the future.  FOX 11

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire on the 1100 block of Scheuring Road in De Pere caused $150,000 in damages when fire crews arrived at 5:45 a.m. Aug. 27 to find a one-story duplex with burning areas in the garage and attic—residents had been safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Wisconsin are rising after flooding at BP’s Whiting refinery in Indiana disrupted fuel supplies—local drivers report paying nearly $4 for premium fuel. Experts warn that increased fuel costs will affect agriculture, tourism, and manufacturing in the region over the coming weeks.  UW-Green Bay

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. Tammy Baldwin visited Fincantieri Ace Marine in Green Bay on August 26—arguing that boosting U.S. shipbuilding will protect national security and support Wisconsin jobs amid global competition. She promoted the SHIPS for America Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at reinvesting fees to expand workforce capacity and improve shipyard infrastructure.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • Crews are repairing bridge approaches on the WIS 441 Improvement Project, leading to road closures that closed the US 10/WIS 441 ramps at Racine Street on Tuesday and Wednesday—drivers must use detours via northbound WIS 441 to westbound County AP/Midway Road. Traffic between South Oneida Street and I-41 was reduced to two lanes and will remain so until late October.  NBC 26
  • Senator Tammy Baldwin visited Fincantieri Ace Marine in Green Bay on Tuesday, August 26 to call for more U.S. shipbuilding to counter China’s dominance and protect local jobs—she noted that while China built 1,700 vessels last year, the U.S. built fewer than 10.  WTAQ
