CRIME NEWS

  • At a motion hearing on Monday, a judge in Brown County merged two cases against Stephen Uncle Fester Preisler—he is set to go on trial on Oct. 7 for charges related to drug manufacturing and possession while other pre-trial issues were addressed.  FOX 11
  • A federal trial begins Monday in Green Bay over Demetrius Stephenson’s death at Calumet County Jail in 2019, with his estate claiming the county and three social workers failed to give him proper care for his mental health—county attorneys say they did their best to help him. The case will see if the lack of treatment violated his rights as a pre-trial detainee.  WBAY
  • Joseph Poore was sentenced Friday to 30 years in prison for the stabbing death of Robert Marshall during a drug dispute on June 3 — he took full responsibility for his actions and his co-defendant Aaron Walton is set to enter a plea on Sept. 10.  94.3 Jack FM
  • Jigwemko Layton was set a $750,000 bond on Monday for his alleged role in a highway on-ramp homicide in Ashwaubenon & he is scheduled to return to court on August 26 when formal charges will be filed.  FOX 11

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • City officials and developer Three Sixty Real Estate Solutions plan a new project on the former Associated Bank parking lot at 200 N. Monroe Avenue that will add 160 apartments, 24 townhomes and space for a grocery store in downtown Green Bay. The developer must finalize the plan by mid-January, will break ground next spring and aims to finish by 2028—officials continue searching for a grocer amid challenging market interest.  94.3 Jack FM

  • Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love returned to practice on Monday at Ray Nitschke Field after thumb surgery and took part in a 7-on-7 drill with his hand wrapped. Romeo Doubs also returned from a back injury, while teammates Kenny Clark, Lukas Van Ness, Aaron Banks, Jacob Monk and Savion Williams missed the practice.  WNCY
