CRIME NEWS

  • A federal jury in Green Bay convicted Neegee Cloud of assault with intent to murder for breaking into his girlfriend's home last September—he beat her unconscious for 20 minutes and now faces up to 20 years for the assault plus an additional 10 years for burglary, with sentencing set for November.  WBAY
  • A Green Bay woman, 18-year-old Aliya Shaw, who is the 13th suspect charged in a fraud scheme that cost local credit unions nearly $200,000 — adding to earlier suspects in a coordinated scam — faces fraud and money laundering charges and is set to appear in court on Aug. 22 — while she remains in custody on a $25,000 bail.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Canadian wildfire smoke is returning to Northeast Wisconsin—an air quality advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today for several counties. The advisory warns that air quality may drop to Unhealthy levels in far northwest areas, though a cold front will clear the smoke later on Tuesday.  FOX 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Green Bay has partnered with CityWise Software LLC to launch a free online rental database—one that will list over 90% of available rental units to help residents find homes amid a tight market. CityWise will soon contact landlords to join the platform as the city works to address its housing shortage.  WNCY
