- ➤ Rebecca Barnard, a former national-level synchronized swimmer and forestry professional, left a high-powered career after moving to Green Bay in January 2021 to mentor young Mason through Big Brothers Big Sisters—teaching him to swim and sharing local adventures like hiking and sailing with Green Bay Sail & Paddle. Mason, who was matched with Rebecca in June 2022 and is now 14, said his first sailing experience left him saying he had the time of his life. Green Bay News Network
- ➤ Today, the Wisconsin Humane Society is urgently calling for volunteer foster parents to care for cats and kittens in Green Bay due to overcrowded shelters—1500 animals are currently being cared for, including nearly 1100 cats and 250 more than last year. - ➤ Myles Schinke, 19, was sentenced on Aug. 7 to four years in prison for his role in a drive-by shooting in Green Bay — he also received six years of extended supervision. 94.3 Jack FM

- ➤ Green Bay Conservation Corps is offering free mosquito bucket kits to residents starting August 11—these kits use a natural bacterium to stop mosquito larvae from growing. Residents can pick up kits at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Center during normal business hours. FOX 11

- ➤ Gov. Tony Evers ordered flags to fly half-staff on Saturday statewide to honor Shawano airman Private Herbert E. McLaughlin, who died in the Dec. 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
