- ➤ More Wisconsin high school students will be automatically admitted into college without applying under the Direct Admit Wisconsin program—an initiative that uses junior year grades for admittance and now involves 467 schools statewide—in an effort to boost enrollment at ten UW institutions including UW-Green Bay. - ➤ Hobart and Lawrence approved a 10-year agreement that will secure the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department’s services until 2035. Chief Michael Renkas said the plan, which has provided 24/7 coverage since 2001, comes just days after Kimberly voted to leave the joint Fox Valley Metro Police Department — now serving only Little Chute. - ➤ Green Bay City Council upheld its decision not to renew Stage 1's liquor licenses after citing repeated police violations during a hearing on August 5, and the bar owner had pleaded for a last chance to fix issues at 231 N. Broadway. The bar has 10 days to file an appeal in circuit court. Green Bay Press-Gazette
- ➤ Crews will replace a culvert on St. Pat's Church Road in the Town of Holland, closing the road from Monday, August 11 at 6 a.m. until Wednesday, August 13 at 6 p.m. — no detour is planned and work will depend on the weather. NBC 26

- ➤ Measles has been officially detected in Wisconsin as health officials report nine cases in Oconto County and warn that Brown County’s vaccination rates fall short of the 95% level needed to prevent an outbreak—public health officials urge parents to check immunization records and have children vaccinated at a clinic on Aug. 21 at local Boys & Girls Clubs in Green Bay.
