COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Seven victim service organizations in Northeast Wisconsin have formed the Victim Services Partnership to raise $3 million over three years after federal cuts slashed support from over $40 million to $13 million—agencies hope community donations will keep vital services running for victims.  WNCY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay opened applications for fall 2026 undergraduate programs on August 1, inviting interested students to join over 50,000 learners — the mobile-friendly form takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete. The school offers more than 200 academic programs with in-person, virtual, hybrid, and online course options.  UW-Green Bay
  • St. Norbert College in De Pere said it balanced its books after making cost-saving moves—such as layoffs and cutting programs—and now expects to break even this fiscal year and again in FY26 despite lower enrollment. Some faculty and community members expressed their discontent by voting no confidence in President Laurie Joyner.  WTAQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ashwaubenon updated its ordinance so that all electric bicycles kept and operated in the Village must now be registered with the Public Safety Department for a one-time fee and display a tag. The new rules also set safety measures for small motorized vehicles—such as limiting electric scooter use on faster roads and requiring helmets for riders under 16—to help keep public spaces safe.  FOX 11

HEALTH NEWS

  • On August 1, ThedaCare acquired the Wisconsin Institute of Urology, the largest independent urology practice in the state—this deal also gives it a majority stake in the Wisconsin Institute of Surgical Excellence. Patients in Neenah, New London, Oshkosh, Shawano and Waupaca will continue to receive integrated, high-quality urology care at ThedaCare facilities.  WTAQ
  • ThedaCare acquired the Wisconsin Institute of Urology, the largest independent urology practice in the state, and became the majority owner of the Wisconsin Institute of Surgical Excellence to provide integrated urology care at its facilities (Neenah, New London, Oshkosh, Shawano and Waupaca).   • Sam’s Club recalled its Member’s Mark Freeze Dried Fruit Variety Pack 15-count after a company found possible Listeria contamination during internal testing—no illnesses were reported and customers who bought the snack between July 1 and July 25 should discard it and request a refund.  WeAreGreenBay.com
