COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Green Bay's Shipyard District launched a donation box on July 23 on the south side of 8th Street Park that offers free items—like blankets, bandages, and hygiene supplies. Neighborhood leaders said the permanent box supports local low-income families and children in need.  WNCY
  • At the Brown County Jail, selected inmates have worked since last summer in a community garden program funded by the Packers Give Back to grow produce such as lettuce, tomatoes and peppers for donation to Paul's Pantry — the program gives inmates weekly classes on gardening while helping meet the food needs of up to 300 local households.  WTAQ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Wisconsin DNR warned riders to buckle up after 23 fatal UTV/ATV crashes occurred so far this year — only five of the victims wore seatbelts — and urged compliance with state law as summer riding increases.  WeAreGreenBay.com

CRIME NEWS

  • A 25-year-old Green Bay man, Michael Putala, was sentenced to five years in prison & seven years of extended supervision after pleading guilty to second-degree reckless homicide for a fatal Cass Street shooting in 2023.  WeAreGreenBay.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Neville Public Museum welcomes locals with exhibits including Secret Seuss — which shows original Dr. Seuss sketches and hidden paintings — and Darwin and Dinosaurs, Generations Gallery, Spectacular Science and a rotating Community Exhibit Space; it is at 210 Museum Place by the Fox River near the Packers Heritage Trail.  Green Bay News Network

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Brown County joined with Bug Tussel on July 24 to launch a $27.2 million broadband project aimed at expanding high-speed fiber access in rural areas—building 270 miles of fiber and eight new towers at Pittsfield Town Hall. County leaders said the project will enhance connectivity for public safety, education and business.  FOX 11
  • The City of Green Bay announced its new online volunteer portal (Volgistics) on July 24th to make it easier for residents, nonprofits, and businesses to sign up for community events. The platform lets users browse opportunities on their devices and helps local groups partner on projects.  Green Bay News Network

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Green Bay Packers unveiled a new history-inspired uniform — the 1923 Classic with navy blue jerseys, dark gold numbers and stripes, tan pants and navy socks paired with a leather-look, hand-painted helmet — that will debut at Lambeau Field this fall when a game is scheduled. Fans can celebrate the new look by browsing the matching collection available in the Packers Pro Shop.  WHBY
  • The Packers unveiled their 1923 Classic Collection gear today at the Packers Pro Shop with navy and gold uniforms and hand painted helmets—designed to mirror the leather ones used when the team first became publicly owned.
