Hundreds of local listeners and businesses raised over $34,000 Friday at the 20th Families of Children with Cancer Radiothon, supporting families facing childhood cancer (sponsored by Nicolet Bank and American Metal Roofs).

Bay Beach Amusement Park will open at 12 noon Friday and stay open until 8 p.m. after several closures earlier this week due to extreme heat and wildfire smoke — temperatures are expected to be milder this weekend.

The new Pamperin Family Branch Library opened today at 909 Cormier Rd in Ashwaubenon with a ribbon cutting at 9:15 a.m. plus crafts, library tours, a scavenger hunt, a concert by Randy Peterson at 10 a.m., and a dance performance by the Oneida Nation Smoke Dancers at 11:30 a.m.

HSHS Rehabilitation Hospital opened on July 16 in Howard and offers 40 inpatient beds with a new brain injury unit.

The facility now provides a specialized resource for local patients.
