A firefighter from the Green Bay Metro Fire Department was taken to a hospital with a medical issue after a paper mill fire broke out early Saturday; crews found smoke near paper machines and in areas with paper dust and had to rotate out because of heavy heat and smoke—no other injuries were reported—and the damage is unknown.

St. Boniface church in Manitowoc will close following a ruling by the Catholic Church’s Supreme Court—Bishop David Ricken approved its closure in January 2023, and an appeal filed in summer 2024 reaffirmed his decision while plans for the church's closure are still being finalized.

Senator Tammy Baldwin spoke Saturday morning at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay against a national spending bill, saying it will strip healthcare from over 270,000 people—risking severe losses for rural hospitals.

Representative Tony Wied later defended the bill, stating it will bolster Medicaid and support local medical services.
