  • Tom Zalaski interviewed Pete Silski and Jeremy Pingel of Green Bay’s Homeless Response Team on Newsmaker Sunday to discuss the growing challenge of homelessness in our city—highlighting local efforts to support unhoused residents.   • On Sunday, a fundraiser was held at Stadium View Bar and Grill to help with medical bills for Vanessa Rompa—daughter of retired WBAY anchor Kevin Rompa—who recovered from bacterial meningitis after an ear infection led to a collapse and seizure and spent nearly 10 weeks in the hospital; she said she will be able to return home in about a week and thanked her friends for their support. The event organizers, Bill Jartz and Otis Day, helped raise money for Vanessa’s care.  WBAY

  • A 16-year-old from Green Bay identified as Jerin Bucher died at the scene of a motorcycle crash in Marinette County on Saturday morning around 9:50 a.m. on Loucks Road when his motorcycle lost control — police said speed was a factor.  WeAreGreenBay.com

CRIME NEWS

  • Police arrested a 28-year-old Green Bay man after he sped and swerved across all four lanes near the roundabout at S Broadway Street and Main Avenue in De Pere early Sunday morning; he fled on foot after his car crashed but was soon taken into custody and transported to a hospital and jail (charges include Recklessly Endangering Safety, Eluding an Officer, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer, two counts of Felony Bail Jumping, and suspicion of impaired driving).  WBAY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Green Bay Metro will change its On Demand microtransit system on July 1 to combine separate zones into one unified daytime area that offers riders flexible travel options to key destinations like De Pere, Bellevue and Austin Straubel airport. The GBM On Demand app will show optimal trip options and help riders plan their trips with enhanced accessibility.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • In Howard on Sunday, 223 athletes and 21 relay teams from Wisconsin, Michigan, and Illinois competed in the Duck Creek Triathlon featuring a 750-meter swim, a 15-mile bike ride and a 5k run, with a community post-race party held at Howard Memorial Park—this was the event’s second edition in the village.  WBAY
