COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On June 23rd, UW-Green Bay partnered with the Wisconsin Elder Justice Coalition to offer elder abuse prevention resources — including the Elder Death Review Team and Financial Abuse Specialist Team toolkits — during World Elder Abuse Awareness Month; the collaboration aims to improve community reporting and support for older adults.  UW-Green Bay
  • The Packers Foundation awarded $1.75 million in impact grants to 11 nonprofits at Lambeau Field on June 23 — the awards supported organizations in Brown, Dane and Milwaukee counties. COO Ed Policy said the grants underscored the foundation’s commitment to strengthening the local community.  FOX 11
  • On Monday, the Green Bay Packers Foundation awarded $1.75 million in impact grants to 11 nonprofits serving Brown, Dane and Milwaukee counties at a luncheon at Lambeau Field. The funds include $1.1 million for Brown, $100,000 for Dane and $550,000 for Milwaukee (from a program launched in 2013) and will support community efforts in education, housing and health (with total grants now over $28 million since the foundation began).  WBAY

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A road was closed on Holmgren Way near Bay Park Square Mall in Ashwaubenon on June 22nd after extreme heat caused pavement failure—Public Safety advised drivers to use alternate routes.  WTAQ
  • Emergency responders rescued an Omro man, a woman and three children from a sinking boat on Lake Poygan Sunday night after a 911 call came in after 8 p.m.—mechanical problems caused the boat to take on water—officials say the group was checked at the scene and is all right.  NBC 26

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local groups gathered at Green Isle Park on Monday morning to urge Governor Evers to include funding for closing the Green Bay Correctional Institution in the state budget. Lawmakers said bipartisan talks continue and funding is unlikely by the June 30 deadline — they expect the matter to be revisited in the fall — leaving prison reform efforts in limbo.  WBAY

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • On June 19, the Green Bay Housing Authority approved an initial $27.5 million bond resolution for SDG Housing Partners' plan to update Monroe Plaza at 400 N. Monroe Ave — a downtown complex for elderly and disabled residents. Some authority members raised concerns about ACC Management Group's role, and SDG will work on final project details before starting renovations in summer 2026.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
