COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Toppling Hunger Cereal Drive began Monday and runs through Monday, June 30 at the WBAY lobby at 115 S. Jefferson St. and Fox Communities Credit Union locations. The drive supports 15 nonprofits and helps thousands of families and seniors in need across six counties. WBAY
- ➤ Bay Beach will open a new accessible train and ADA-compliant bathrooms in mid-July as part of its park expansion—featuring bench seating, a ramp for mobility-impaired riders, and an adult changing station—and park officials say the train will loop around the inclusive playground once construction is finished. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay police said John Alexander was arrested on June 12 at Bay Beach after a park employee reported he made uncomfortable comments and resisted officers' efforts—videos by bystanders and a professional camera crew showed the incident while the TV show Cops was filming. FOX 11
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Green Bay school board selected Samantha Meister as its newest member on June 16th to replace Kou Lee after reviewing six candidates, and her term lasts until April 2026. - ➤ UW-Green Bay raised $204,900 on June 13 during its second annual Giving Day as community donors and alumni increased contributions by 117% over last year— the funds will boost need-based scholarships and key academic programs that support local workforce growth. UW-Green Bay

- ➤ Green Bay alderpersons introduced a resolution to oppose conversion therapy after constituents raised concerns about its harmful effects—The Protection and Policy Committee voted 2-2 on Monday night, sending the measure to the Common Council for further discussion on June 24. FOX 11
