- ➤ The village of Denmark will soon launch major improvements to its parks after community surveys shaped plans that include changes to War Memorial Park, Highridge Park, and a new space called Denmark Square near downtown. War Memorial Park will transform its kiddie pool into a splashpad and add an ADA-inclusive playground while Highridge Park will gain six new pickleball courts and a playground as a local Boy Scout troop helps clear trails and the village seeks grants for funding. - ➤ Police say a 43-year-old man was shot on Green Bay’s west side early Saturday morning after a verbal dispute outside a residence—authorities are searching for a suspect described as a black male with dreads in all-black clothing who fled the scene on foot. WTAQ
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The village of Denmark will soon begin a major overhaul of its park system as officials plan safety upgrades at War Memorial Park including a new splash pad, ADA compliant play area, relocated basketball court and concession stand while Highridge Park will add pickleball courts and a playground and Denmark Square will feature an amphitheater and walking trail. A local Boy Scout troop will help expand a cohesive trail system—village leaders are seeking grants and funding before starting the work. FOX 11
- ➤ Legislators approved a tax plan on June 12 that shields the first $24,000 of retirement income for individuals aged 67 and older for full-time residents — non-residents cannot claim the exemption and part-time residents get credit only for income earned in Wisconsin. The GOP proposal also increases the maximum adoption expense deduction from $5,000 to $15,000 and will move to the Assembly, Senate and Governor Tony Evers for final approval. Green Bay Press-Gazette
