COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay is partnering with the Office of Violence Prevention on a week-long tree planting initiative titled 'Neighbors Together for Western' to revitalize a west side neighborhood. Local leaders and police believe the new trees on Western Avenue will help reduce crime and boost property values—an investment in community safety and quality of life. WBAY
- ➤ Volunteers planted apple, pear, cherry and plum trees in Bellevue public parks to create two community orchards open to the public for fruit picking when the trees mature. Seventeen orchards have been planted across Brown County over the past three years (with greens added for pollinators) as part of an ongoing project. WBAY
- ➤ On Thursday, several organizations set up mobile units in front of the Salvation Army at 626 Union Court to offer resources for families in need—services included home lead cleaning kits from Brown County Health Department, lead testing from NEW Clinic, and Cologuard kits from Prevea Health. The event also served food, hosted kid activities, and plans are underway to bring the mobile block party to additional neighborhoods over the summer. WBAY

- ➤ On Thursday, Schneider National celebrated its 90th birthday at its Green Bay headquarters with a 10:30 a.m. arrival of ‘Haul of Fame’ drivers. The company—founded in 1935 with one truck and now employing over 19,000 people with nearly 15,000 trucks—inducted 30 new drivers and shared plans to expand cross-border services in Mexico. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ De Pere Historical Society announced that the nearly 200-year-old White Pillars Museum will break ground for a $5.3 million expansion on June 18 at 11 a.m.—the project still needs about $700,000 in donations to be fully funded. The expansion will enlarge the museum from 1,000 square feet to nearly 6,000 square feet and will allow longer hours and more educational programs for local residents. NBC 26

- ➤ Local teens learned about the department's K9 program during the 25th annual Teen Police Academy — running from Monday to Thursday — and they heard firsthand from handlers about the special work of the four-legged officers. WBAY
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Bellin Hospital in Green Bay now offers robotic heart surgery that uses tiny incisions for less pain and faster recovery. Dr. Michael Bailey, the only surgeon doing this procedure in Northeast Wisconsin, is training more doctors to use the breakthrough technique this fall — giving local patients a new option close to home.
