Good morning, Green Bay. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 13th of June.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Green Bay is partnering with the Office of Violence Prevention on a week-long tree planting initiative titled 'Neighbors Together for Western' to revitalize a west side neighborhood. Local leaders and police believe the new trees on Western Avenue will help reduce crime and boost property values—an investment in community safety and quality of life.  WBAY
  • Volunteers planted apple, pear, cherry and plum trees in Bellevue public parks to create two community orchards open to the public for fruit picking when the trees mature. Seventeen orchards have been planted across Brown County over the past three years (with greens added for pollinators) as part of an ongoing project.  WBAY
  • On Thursday, several organizations set up mobile units in front of the Salvation Army at 626 Union Court to offer resources for families in need—services included home lead cleaning kits from Brown County Health Department, lead testing from NEW Clinic, and Cologuard kits from Prevea Health. The event also served food, hosted kid activities, and plans are underway to bring the mobile block party to additional neighborhoods over the summer.  WBAY
