COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Brown County Parks Department announced that two sections of the Fox River Trail will be closed next week for repaving work (from Porlier Pier to Marine Street in Allouez and from Lazarre Avenue to the Fox Point boat launch in De Pere). The trail will be entirely closed Monday through Friday and partially open until June 20.  WTAQ
  • Repaving work will close sections of the Fox River Trail next week from Monday until Friday, affecting the stretch from Porlier Pier to Marine Street in Allouez and from Lazarre Avenue to the Fox Point boat launch in De Pere. Officials say the trail will be partially open until June 20, and a third construction phase is scheduled for June 26—July 23.  WNCY
  • Brown County Parks Department said the H.J. DeBaker Eagles Nest Park and Boat Launch, built from a former supper club bought in summer 2020, will have its grand opening at 11 a.m. on June 3. The park has four boat launch lanes, 71 trailer parking stalls and a small boat wash area for boats up to 22 feet—no swimming is allowed—while some work remains to be done.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

  • Cellcom announced Friday that customers affected by a two-week service outage beginning May 15 will pay less on their July bills—eligible customers can activate a second adjustment for double the downtime—as the company works to stabilize its services.  WNCY

CRIME NEWS

  • Joelle Blaser, 55, was ordered to stand trial for recklessly delivering pills that allegedly resulted in her partner’s fatal overdose at Green Bay Rehabilitation Center—she will enter her plea on June 19 and was denied a $25,000 cash bond.  WNCY
  • A Green Bay man, accused of sexually assaulting two 13-year-old girls, had his cash bond set at $50,000 on May 29 and will appear in court on June 13—authorities noted that camera footage and Snapchat messages helped link him to the charges—.  WeAreGreenBay.com
  • A Green Bay woman, 55-year-old Joelle Blaser, was ordered to stand trial for reckless homicide after her partner died from an overdose at a rehabilitation center—phone records show she exchanged texts with a drug supplier.  FOX 11

  • The Village of Howard is considering new steps to control deer in residential areas after banning wildlife feeding, and its deer control committee will review village properties for potential archery hunting next month — residents are divided on the plan.  WNCY
  • Green Bay Police held a motorcycle training course on Friday in the Green Bay Community Church parking lot, where officers from Green Bay and De Pere practiced riding skills for risky stops and chases—Lt. Solomon Ayres said the bikes let officers talk with locals more and keep traffic moving safely.  WBAY
