COMMUNITY NEWS

  • City officials today said they are working to re-house over 600 homeless people who have been spending nights in city parks after closing—police enforce park rules while outreach teams help connect residents with housing and health services; the Green Bay Homeless Outreach program has re-housed 10 people since August and will continue to expand its support. Officials emphasized that efforts to offer essential resources to those in need are ongoing.  WBAY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local mural painter Beau Thomas finished a new artwork showing Steve Thoe skiing down coal piles, a subject that has spurred long debates in Green Bay. He worked on the mural for one week on a site he has long served and coordinated with the owner of Frank Herman’s—his work shows his strong connection to our city's history.  WeAreGreenBay.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Green Bay Packers honored 14 law enforcement officers with Protect and Serve Awards on May 29 at Johnsonville Tailgate Village plus a School Resource Officer Award and a Department Award were also given. Hand-crafted wooden American flags were presented as awards and each recipient received a $2,000 grant to support their department or a nonprofit.  WTAQ
  • Green Bay’s new H.J. DeBaker Eagles Nest Park and Boat Launch was nearing completion as crews installed part of a pier on May 28 and Brown County officials say the park offers concrete walkways, nearly 100 parking spots, and a boat launch built for small boats that can safely handle windy weather — the launch is expected to open in about a week.  WNCY
  • The Green Bay Metro Fire Department will hold its first-ever Rescue Rally on June 9 at 6:00 p.m. in Leicht Memorial Park to celebrate the addition of two new ladder trucks. The event—featuring food from local food trucks and a Touch-A-Truck experience—will offer community members a chance to learn important safety tips.  WeAreGreenBay.com

  • US News and World Report ranked Green Bay as No. 170 among US cities in its best places to live list based on quality of life, job market and cost factors, noting a median house price of $206,179 and a 15.5-minute average commute—underscoring the city’s mix of big-city amenities with a small-town feel.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

  • Judge Tammy Jo Hock dismissed a lawsuit filed by Brian Garcia alleging the Packers failed to stop a data breach on the Pro Shop website in September and October. The ruling dismissed both class and individual claims with prejudice (the team declined to comment).  WTAQ
