  • A nonprofit that assists veterans and first responders through art held a Memorial Day party fundraiser on Monday, May 25 to raise funds for free art programs (art education, art days, and drum circles) in Green Bay. EDUCATION NEWS

  • UW‑Green Bay adjunct Jon Etter was named Teacher of the Year for 2026‑27 during a celebration at Wauwatosa East High School, receiving a $3,000 award and an education ambassador role for his 19 years in teaching English and building dual enrollment programs (Herb Kohl Philanthropies).  UW-Green Bay

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Lower Fox River cleanup spanned 17 years and cost $1.3 billion, finishing in 2020 after removing 6.5 million cubic yards of sediment along a 39-mile stretch from Little Lake Buttes des Morts to the bay. Officials will monitor the site for decades (for fish safety).  Green Bay Press-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Green Bay police swore in six new patrol officers and promoted two to sergeant Tuesday during a ceremony (one officer had 7 years and the other 8 years of service).  FOX 11
  • The Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge in downtown Green Bay will close for maintenance work from Monday, June 1 to Friday, June 19 + drivers should use detours via Broadway, Walnut Street, and Monroe Avenue to plan for likely delays.  NBC 26

HEALTH NEWS

  • Scot Meisenheimer (66) helped remove toxic sediment from the Fox River and was later diagnosed with aggressive cancers believed to be linked to PCB exposure. He now faces mounting medical bills and a disputed workers’ compensation deal.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • ThedaCare finished its new simulation lab (2,200 sqft) to train resident physicians and care teams. The internal medicine residency program will welcome its first residents on July 1.  WBAY
