  • WTAQ staff won five first-place awards at the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Gala in Madison on May 3rd. The Morning News with Matt and Rob was named Best Medium Market Morning Show—Rachel Charniak’s investigative piece on Green Bay Correctional Institution and Agricultural Director Joanna Guza’s work in online media were also honored.  WNCY
  • NWTC hosted its 37th annual Auto Club car show Sunday, May 4th at its campus in Green Bay. Students refurbished a Toyota Sienna van donated to Awaken to help survivors of sex trafficking — and a raffle raised funds to support newer automotive training.  FOX 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Former Brown County executive and sheriff Tom Hinz died at home on May 3 at age 83—he was surrounded by family. He served as a Green Bay police officer from 1966 to 1996—later he led the sheriff’s department and served as county executive until 2011 while also founding a program for veterans.  94.3 Jack FM

HEALTH NEWS

  • De Pere resident Nicole Abendroth lost her triplet Jack in 2020 and saw her two other premature boys spend many months in intensive care; she will join a March of Dimes walk in Madison tomorrow to help raise funds for maternal and infant care—her way of honoring Jack. This event aims to support better outcomes for moms and babies.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
