Good morning, Green Bay. Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 4th of May.

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A survey by Payday lender Advance America shows that most Wisconsin drivers would reduce spending if gas reached $4.84 per gallon. In Green Bay, gas prices near $4 today are prompting motorists to cut back on dining out and travel — a sign that fuel costs influence daily budgets.  FOX 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Sunday, four GBAPS elementary schools held final hall walks before their closure; MacArthur and Kennedy will be demolished with students moving to the new Starr Elementary School, while Elmore and Langlade will close with students reassigned to other facilities (a historic farewell for the community).  WBAY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tick bites and Lyme disease cases are rising in Fox Valley as tick season begins. Doctors advise protection with light clothing and thorough tick checks and suggest saving removed ticks in a jar (or plastic bag) for testing as climate change and increased outdoor activity contribute to the uptick.  FOX 11
