Green Bay officials began road closures near Lambeau Field as NFL Draft preparations intensified with hundreds of thousands expected later this week — additional closures will occur on Wednesday to manage the event, and local services including airports and businesses are making adjustments accordingly.

Green Bay and Appleton were named among the top 100 places to live in the US in 2025 by Livability, which praised strong community bonds, affordable housing, and local amenities — factors that add excitement as the NFL Draft approaches.

Officials say the recognition highlights what makes the region a great place for both residents and visitors.

Green Bay families who rely on school meals got help during the NFL Draft as classes were canceled and food services were disrupted—Molina Healthcare, the Greater Green Bay YMCA, and community partners held a food distribution at Howe Elementary to assist over 100 families.

Rising food insecurity from inflation has prompted local groups to ensure children receive essential meals during the school break.

Green Bay unveiled its first battery electric bus on Monday ahead of the NFL Draft and it went into service on the route from downtown to Titletown.

The bus, made by Gillig, is part of a clean energy plan that will add three buses in 2026 and two in 2027 with federal and state grant support.

On Monday, Livability.com’s study ranked Green Bay, Appleton and Madison among the top 100 best places to live in the US—using a detailed algorithm that focused on economy, housing and quality of life factors.

Green Bay officials and local public safety teams are preparing to host the 2025 NFL Draft from April 24 to 26 with backup plans for bad weather and extended bus service amid forecasts of rain on April 24 and 25.

NFL and local leaders said the event will welcome tens of thousands of visitors and urged people to use official channels for parking and security details — measures are in place to ward off scams.
