COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Green Bay Botanical Garden launched a nonprofit ticketing program that covers admission costs using a grant from De Pere Christian Outreach (including access to the Woodland Wonders exhibit presented by Selner Tree and Shrub Care). Nonprofits can apply by Friday, April 24 and selected recipients will be notified the week of May 1.  Green Bay News Network
  • The American Red Cross has opened two shelters in northeast Wisconsin to help residents affected by flooding; they are located at The Washington Center in New London and St. John's United Church in Black Creek, where food, water and support are provided while impacted residents can call 1-800-RED CROSS.  WBAY
  • Titletown invites residents to celebrate Earth Day with daily outdoor activities — including a walking club, scavenger hunt and greenhouse visits — that encourage movement and nature connection. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Data centers are growing in Wisconsin due to ample fresh water and a cool climate—raising concerns over the heavy water used offsite for power generation. Local utilities must adjust plans as increased energy needs may strain regional water supplies.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Greenleaf and Suamico earned Project VOTE trophies after the spring election, with Greenleaf reaching 47.5% turnout in the small group and Suamico recording 46.34% in the large group as countywide turnout was 40.2%.  FOX 11
  • The Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge will be closed on April 30 from 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. for spring cleaning, and nearby routes on Main Street and Dousman Street will also have closures; residents should plan alternate routes.  FOX 11

SPORTS NEWS

  • Delta Airlines will add nonstop flights from New York’s LaGuardia and Washington’s Reagan National airports — easing travel for fans — for the Wisconsin-Notre Dame game at Lambeau Field on Saturday, Sept. 5, with return flights on Monday, Sept. 7.  WBAY
  • The Packers and UW Health announced a long-term partnership on Thursday morning in Madison, making UW Health the official health care partner — a north side Lambeau Field gate will be renamed in May as both groups work on community health programs.  94.3 Jack FM
  • UW Health was named the Packers' new health partner in a multi-year deal that will sponsor a UW Health Gate at Lambeau Field next month+ Family Night and training camp events while also supporting youth sports initiatives.  WBAY
