EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Green Bay Area Public School District began work preparing the new westside Kennedy Elementary site as part of a $183 million referendum project approved in November. Students from Kennedy, Keller and MacArthur will attend the new school while community members are invited to share feedback at Doty Elementary on April 29 at 6 p.m. and at Chappell Elementary on May 1 at 6 p.m.  WTAQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Green Bay City Council unanimously approved raising parking rates at the Pine Street, Cherry Street, and Main Street parking ramps during the NFL Draft next week—rates will increase from $1.00 per hour with a $12.00 daily maximum to $2.00 per hour with a $24.00 daily maximum starting April 23 and then revert to normal on April 25.  WBAY

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Green Bay real estate developer McDonald Companies holds a 120-day option to purchase the 48-acre former Georgia Pacific mill site at 500 Day Street and said it hopes to partner with the community in planning the property's future use. City council delayed the rezoning vote to July so that city staff can work with McDonald and Georgia Pacific on a long-term plan.  WTAQ
  • Real estate developer McDonald Companies secured a 120-day option to purchase the former Georgia Pacific mill site at 500 Day Street on the Fox River—eastern edge in downtown Green Bay and said it plans to work with city officials on a plan for the 48-acre property.   • Austin Straubel International Airport is preparing for the NFL Draft next week with extra flights from United, American and Delta and improvements to the terminal ahead of an estimated 40,000 passengers arriving between Wednesday and Sunday.   • Green Bay will offer a mix of transportation options for the NFL Draft with rideshare drop-offs, a free Downtown to Titletown bus route running every 15 minutes, and satellite parking at local venues such as Green Bay Southwest High School and the National Railroad Museum — riders can download the NFL One Pass app to get up-to-the-minute details and track buses on the Green Bay Metro website.  WNCY
  • Green Bay is preparing for the NFL Draft with new transit options as rideshare services, public buses, and satellite parking at locations like Green Bay Southwest High School and the National Railroad Museum will help manage the event.
