CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 35-year-old Green Bay man named Craig Redmond was sentenced on April 4 to 10 years in prison—plus 20 years of extended supervision—for his role in a 2023 reckless homicide that led to a 32-year-old's fentanyl overdose death. WeAreGreenBay.com
- ➤ Mauricio Powless, 19, was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting two girls and attempting to assault a third at a Green Bay hotel—incidents that occurred on Jan. 20 and Jan. 25 at Tundra Lodge—and will be on the sex offender registry for life with 10 years of extended supervision. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay’s new west side school will be built on the Kennedy Elementary property and will combine three current elementary schools for the 2026 to 2027 school year—its naming committee proposed three options including Bart Starr Elementary, Bright Horizons Elementary and Creekside Elementary. The board will vote on the new name at its April 28 meeting—construction will begin in April or May following a $183 million referendum passed in November. 94.3 Jack FM

The project—needed after a well was shut down in 2017 due to high radium—is set to begin construction later this year with rate adjustments coming into effect by the end of 2026 and completion expected by 2027. - ➤ After nearly two years of planning, Green Bay will host the NFL Draft at Lambeau Field, Titletown and the Resch Expo with an expected attendance of about 240,000 and a projected statewide economic impact of $94 million—$20 million of which will benefit local businesses.
