- ➤ A Green Bay homeless shelter is raising $14 million to build a four-story apartment building with 41 one-bedroom units and dedicated tenant support. The shelter spent $2 million to buy seven homes for the project—and the city council will soon consider final zoning approval after a public hearing. FOX 11
- ➤ Cathy Kohlbeck founded the Houses of Honor program to support local teachers, firefighters, police officers, medical professionals, and military members. As a mortgage expert at Movement Mortgage, she has provided discounted services for over a decade and led an annual Salute to Service fundraiser that has raised funds for businesses aiding veterans. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On April 3, 25-year-old Jackson Vogel, an inmate at Green Bay Correctional Institution accused of intentionally killing his cellmate Micah Laureano last August, asked the court to withdraw his plea of not guilty by reason of mental disease—he will face a jury trial set to start June 2 while prosecutors say he targeted his cellmate because of his race and sexual preference. - ➤ Author David Sedaris will appear at the Meyer Theatre on Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. following the release of his newest books Happy Go Lucky and Pretty Ugly—he will offer new readings, a question and answer session, and a book signing with books available for sale from Lion's Mouth Bookstore. FOX 11
- ➤ Green Bay's Shipyard District will host live music and special events during NFL Draft week at local bars and restaurants.
