- ➤ Residents of Allouez are invited to vote for one of three new playground designs at Webster Park; voting is open until April 19 and the winning design will be sent to officials for final approval with the project set to be completed by Oct. 31 (design colors may change before installation). - ➤ Utility crews worked to restore power after ice and thunderstorms left over 35,000 customers without electricity, with slow progress in Menominee County where 54% of customers still had outages. Cleanup continued as hazardous, icy conditions made the task difficult. WBAY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ UW System President Jay Rothman is locked in a dispute with the board after being told to resign without a clear reason as discussions continue regarding his future. The board may meet over Easter weekend to decide if he will be fired — a decision that could reshape the system’s leadership. Green Bay Press-Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin DOT now offers a webpage with weekly updates on 12 planned lift bridge closures for motorists + mariners in northeast Wisconsin, including Green Bay, to help schedule trips and review safety details. - ➤ Today, the City granted a temporary use permit to Safe Haven Hope Center to operate a transitional homeless shelter at 315 S Jefferson Street; the site will host nine residents overnight until June 30 while a next-door property owner expresses safety concerns.
