CRIME NEWS

  • Sophia Franklin, a 16-year-old pregnant teen reported missing for two months from central Wisconsin, was found safe in Nebraska late Wednesday night after officers responded to an AMBER Alert tip and took the 40-year-old man—reportedly her baby's father—into custody.  WeAreGreenBay.com
  • Jason Wright, Jr. (22) was charged with two counts of second-degree reckless injury and two counts of operating a vehicle with a suspended license after a high-speed crash on Velp and Wilson avenues that injured two people, and he is set to return to court on May 8th with bond set at $25,000.  FOX 11

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Local crews continue building the NFL Draft campus in Titletown as community leaders and Packers officials met on Thursday at the KI Convention Center to share plans for the event. The draft is expected to boost the area's economy by $94 million—with $20 million benefiting Brown County—and local businesses like Titletown Brewery are preparing extra staff and simpler menus for the anticipated influx.  FOX 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • UW Green Bay reported its highest spring enrollment today with 8,239 students—up from 8,034 last spring and 7,641 in spring 2023. The university saw increases of 0.5% in undergraduates, 22.5% in graduate students, 4.3% in high school students and 10.6% in Hispanic/Latino students.  WNCY

  • Milwaukee-based eco-sustainable wood artist Ike Wynter spent over 500 hours turning more than 50 reclaimed pieces from discarded furniture into 32 handcrafted NFL team logos—each piece using the natural texture of the wood—and his art will be featured on the Player Walkway at the NFL Draft in Green Bay.  WTAQ
  • On NFL Draft week, the Legacy Hotel on Brett Favre Pass will offer its Ultimate VIP Experience from April 24 to April 27. Tickets cost $250 and benefit Children’s Wisconsin while providing access to live broadcasts, podcasts, meet and greets with legendary players and celebrities, a cigar lounge, casino games, outdoor activities and live music along with a complimentary six-month Legacy Club Membership.  WNCY
