  • The Volunteer Center of Brown County was named the 2026 Free Enterprise Award charity partner by the Rotary Club of Green Bay (a decision that highlights its role in connecting volunteers and supporting local nonprofits).   • Emily Ames, associate attorney at Hager, Dewick & Zuengler, joined Golden House’s Board in January 2024 and now serves on three committees.   • Port of Green Bay kicked off the 2026 shipping season this week when the vessel Algocanada arrived at 10:42 a.m. carrying petroleum products; contest winner Chad Peters from Sagola won prizes for his nearly accurate guess on the ship's arrival time.  WNCY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Educators across Northeast Wisconsin were honored on Thursday when the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation announced Teacher Fellowship and Principal Leadership awards, with $6,000 grants given to 100 teachers and 15 principals (including recipients from West De Pere, Chilton, and Little Chute) for exceptional leadership.  WNCY

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Brown and Outagamie Counties have installed ARTS sites to filter phosphorus runoff from farms and protect Fox-River water quality & serve as training grounds for high school and UW-Green Bay students studying sustainable agriculture. The project follows a grant from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.  UW-Green Bay
  • Over 1,700 volunteers will join Northeast Wisconsin’s largest volunteer trash cleanup on Saturday, May 2 at 65+ sites along the Fox-Wolf River Basin. Participants will receive cleanup supplies and join a noon picnic; register by March 31 to secure a free Cleanup Tee.  Green Bay News Network

SPORTS NEWS

  • NBC 26 and The Spot Green Bay 32 will broadcast 41 Timber Rattlers games this season, starting with Opening Night against Beloit Sky Carp on Thursday, April 2 as they bring live local baseball to fans across Northeast Wisconsin.  NBC 26
  • Green Bay is hosting the USA Hockey Tier I Nationals for elite 15- and 16-year-olds, with quarterfinals today and semifinals and championships later in the week. Thirty-two teams from across the country compete across arenas (Cornerstone Community Center and De Pere Ice Arena).  NBC 26
  • Green Bay's charity softball game will be headlined by Jordan Love and Micah Parsons on June 5 at Neuroscience Group Field — the event includes a home run derby, fan events, and fundraisers for the Hands of 10ve and Lion Heart Foundations.  NBC 26
