- ➤ Green Bay Metro Fire Department is providing free smoke alarm installation in Green Bay, Allouez and Bellevue as part of Operation Beep Beep. The department uses nearly $30,000 in grant funds to help keep homes safe during the upcoming NFL Draft; residents can request service online or call (920) 448-3303. WBAY
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On March 19th, fire crews responded to a house fire on Mid Valley Drive in Lawrence where they pulled two victims, with one pronounced dead at a local hospital and the other dying later at a specialty hospital as investigators began reviewing the cause. WNCY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Six candidates are running for three at-large school board seats with the election on April 1 to address a multimillion-dollar deficit, school consolidations, and low reading scores in Green Bay. Each candidate offered plans to boost academic achievement and teacher retention — key issues as the district works to improve education and equity. Green Bay Press-Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Brown County’s board of supervisors voted 24 to 2 late Wednesday to reject the offer to move downtown coal piles—keeping discussions open with C. Reiss and seven other companies about using the former Pulliam Power Plant site. The board also is considering an alternate site near Fox River Terminal—a change that could risk $25 million in state and federal grants if project plans shift. WNCY
- ➤ Early in-person absentee voting began Tuesday in Green Bay for the April 1 election—City Clerk Celestine Jeffreys said voters must show a photo ID for their request and send in mail ballots by today to be on time. The process has mailed about 100 ballots each day since last Friday and is expected to draw around 26,000 voters like similar past contests. WNCY

- ➤ The UW-Green Bay Women’s Basketball team left on Thursday for Maryland for their first NCAA tournament appearance since 2018 and as a 12‑seed they will face five‑seed Alabama on Saturday at 12:30.
