ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On March 19th, Lawrence firefighters rescued two people from a house fire on Mid Valley Drive and took them to a hospital—road closures lasted until about 8 a.m. and damage is estimated at $150,000 to $175,000.  WNCY
  • Multiple departments responded to a house fire on Mid Valley Drive near Interstate 41 in the Town of Lawrence early Wednesday morning — the fire was put out and two people were sent to the hospital while damage estimates remain unclear.  NBC 26

CRIME NEWS

  • The Green Bay Police Department said its 2024 report showed overall offenses dropped 1.58% from 2023—with property crimes falling nearly 11% to a 10-year low and crimes against persons rising 18%—as officials focused on addressing the increase in assaults.  94.3 Jack FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents in the Red Smith neighborhood spoke at a City Council meeting Tuesday night over Moski Corp's proposal to build 160 apartment units — a change they said would upset the area's single-family home character. The council tabled further action and will review the plan again on April 15.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • On March 12, the Innovation with Tug Samuel De Champlain arrived at 1:49 p.m. with a cement shipment as the Port of Green Bay launched its shipping season and contest. Anne LaCour—of Pembine predicted a 2:13 p.m. arrival time and won prizes including a one-night stay at Hotel Northland, a swag bag, a board game, six museum tickets and a gift certificate.  WTAQ
  • A Brown County committee voted unanimously Tuesday to continue negotiations with interested parties for the former Pulliam Power Plant site near downtown Green Bay’s coal piles— the county board will make the final decision Wednesday night on lease terms and redevelopment plans for the riverfront property.  94.3 Jack FM

SPORTS NEWS

  • Two years ago, Packers CEO Mark Murphy said Green Bay will host the 2025 NFL draft—since then, ideas like using a cruise ship hotel and Amtrak service have been explored to address lodging and transport needs. Many of these creative proposals did not happen, but city and tourism officials are still reviewing options as the three-day event nears.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
