CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Howard man, Tyquiwon Byrd, 23, was charged with attempted first-degree homicide—one count for shooting a man during a November drug deal and one count for attacking his girlfriend’s mother with a screwdriver in February—and he was booked into Brown County Jail on March 17 with bail set at $300,000 for each charge. - ➤ Green Bay will host multiple events this weekend including Monster Jam with shows on Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m., Out In This World with original monologues at the Tarlton Theatre on Friday at 7 p.m., and Project Pink performing at the Meyer Theatre on Friday at 8 p.m. A build your own bluebird house workshop is scheduled for Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve while the Red Hot Chili Pipers entertain at the Ashwaubenon Performing Arts Center on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Green Bay Press-Gazette
- ➤ The wreck of the Margaret A. Muir—a cargo schooner that sank in 1893 off Algoma—has been named a historic place by the Wisconsin Historical Society as of March 6. Maritime historians discovered the remains last year using sonar; the site is now protected under state and federal law. Green Bay Press-Gazette

- ➤ At Monday night’s meeting, the school board approved a new strategic plan that sets clear goals for academics, student well-being and staff development over the next five years and confirmed the existing mission and vision statements. It also approved a land swap agreement with the city that exchanges property near several schools — giving the board 9 months of exclusive negotiating rights on two sites and including demolition costs from a past referendum. 94.3 Jack FM

- ➤ Early voting for the Wisconsin Spring election begins today at City Hall from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional voting hours will be available at City Hall through March 27 and voters in other northeast Wisconsin communities should check with their local clerk's office for in-person absentee voting times. - ➤ Green Bay will host the NFL Draft next month with about 240,000 people expected, and city officials say more than $1 million in public safety costs will add to local taxpayer expenses.
