ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews responded at 8 a.m. Friday at Urban Cultural Arts on E. Walnut Street when they found smoke and venting from the roof, and the fire caused about $80,000 in damage with no one hurt.  WHBY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Robert B. Atwell and Mike Daniels of Nicolet Bankshares have been named 2026 Free Enterprise Award winners by the Green Bay Rotary Club and Rotary Foundation. They will be honored on May 18 at the 44th annual presentation dinner + two longtime leaders in Wisconsin banking.  FOX 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • Green Bay Press-Gazette images and front pages won awards at the 2025 Better Newspaper Contest, with multiple Best Front Page honors recognized in early 2025. The achievement highlights the paper’s creative excellence in quality journalism.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • GBAPS is considering converting the Edison Middle School pool into an auxiliary gym due to low usage and high costs. If approved this spring, the project will be completed by fall 2028 — offering more daily access to gym space for students.  FOX 11
  • The Green Bay School Board approved Michael Hernandez’s contract on Monday to succeed Vicki Bayer, and he will begin leading the district on July 1 while continuing his work in Appleton.  WBAY

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • WPS announced Monday that peregrine falcons had returned to its and We Energies power plants, with Sheldon + an unbanded female nesting at Weston for the third consecutive year. Eggs may be laid soon and chicks are expected later this spring as part of the ongoing recovery effort.  WBAY

HEALTH NEWS

  • State health officials reported that kid vaccination rates dropped to 66.9% at 24 months last year — a nearly 2% decrease from 2024 — and warned that lower rates may raise the risk of preventable disease outbreaks. DHS is strengthening partnerships to ease access barriers for families.  WNCY

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Los Angeles Chargers agreed to terms with Suamico native Alec Ingold on a multiyear contract. The 29-year-old former Dolphins fullback will reunite with coach Mike McDaniel under a deal reportedly worth up to $7.5 million.  NBC 26
  • The Packers are finalizing a deal to send defensive end Rashan Gary to the Cowboys in exchange for a late-round 2027 draft pick (ESPN sources), although the team said no moves have been made.  WNCY
