COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Amanda’s House in Green Bay is launching a $2.5 million campaign to double its capacity. The sober living facility, founded by Paula Jolly to honor her daughter and serve women in recovery, will add six bedrooms, a renovated kitchen and laundry, with expansion set to complete within 18 months.  FOX 11

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In the recent shipping season, the Port of Green Bay moved 1,587,620 tons of cargo, with salt volumes rising (9.74%) for winter needs and wood pulp shipments increasing (145.7%) due to higher manufacturing demand. Port officials are accepting predictions for the first ship's arrival during the 2026 First Ship Contest.  WNCY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Board of Education is holding public meetings Tuesday, Feb. 17 at East High School Commons and Wednesday, Feb. 18 at Southwest High School Commons to discuss budget challenges and cost-saving options — staff, students, and families are invited to give input.  WBAY

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Green Bay chapter of Walleyes for Tomorrow spread 300 tons of washed cobblestone along the Fox River shoreline in Allouez to boost walleye spawning success. The group will host its annual fundraiser on Feb. 19 & welcome community help for future conservation projects.  WBAY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary met with city officials Monday after receiving an ordinance violation for temporarily sheltering homeless people during a January cold snap; both sides agreed to address the concerns and avoid fines.  94.3 Jack FM
  • Newcap was put under enhanced financial monitoring late last year after concerns arose over CEO Cheryl Detrick’s 142 percent pay increase & low board representation. Former board members question the nonprofit’s governance as officials review measures to ensure taxpayer funding is used correctly.  FOX 11
