  • On Jan. 19, Marcus Theaters will celebrate National Popcorn Day in Green Bay by offering free popcorn with movie ticket purchases at Bay Park Cinema (Ashwaubenon) and Green Bay East Cinema (Green Bay), along with popcorn games and prize scratch-offs.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

  • Iconic restaurant Kroll’s East, serving butter burgers and chili since 1935, is for sale. Realtor Zaid Jazrawi posted a sneak peek online with an official listing coming soon — the Main Street location will list for $850,000 with the name and equipment while operations continue until a committed buyer is found.  94.3 Jack FM
  • Aurora Global Defense Systems is proposing to buy the theater, library and tech center at the former UW-Green Bay Marinette campus to create a high-tech hub for robotics, AI and drone technology, which would boost jobs and ease county maintenance liabilities before the UWGB lease ends in 2042.  WNCY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Howard-Suamico School District will ask voters on April 7 to decide on two referendums (a seven-year, $7 million plan for operational costs like teacher pay and small classes and a $147 million measure for school updates including Bay Port High) without raising the current tax rate.  Green Bay Press-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Brown County residents will see a 6.6% increase in sewer and storm water rates starting this month as their water bills rise, with about $1.68 added monthly per average household. NEW Water said the hike will fund essential projects including replacing century-old sewer pipes in downtown Green Bay.  WNCY
  • Starting this month, Brown County residents face higher water bills because sewer rates increased 6.6% — adding about $1.68 per month — to fund aging pipes, while Green Bay's sanitary sewer rates rose 2.84% with a $5 quarterly stormwater fee increase.  WTAQ
  • Bellevue Street will be closed to traffic on Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Elkay Lane — detour routes include East Mason Street, Lime Kiln Road, and Verlin Road while access to nearby residences and businesses remains open.  FOX 11
