COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Green Bay welcomes the holiday season this weekend with a tree-lighting ceremony at Howard Commons today from 6 to 9 p.m., and the festivities continue on Nov 22 with a Rudolph-themed parade led by Let Me Be Frank Productions, family activities at the Children's Museum, and free celebrations in Ashwaubenon.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • Food pantries in Green Bay have seen rising need this fall as food insecurity affects over 31,000 residents and one local pantry nearly doubled its visitors in early November—local groups like Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin and Brown County Hunger Coalition delivered 400 'tend and table' boxes with fresh produce to eight pantries and select patients to help bridge food gaps this winter.  Green Bay Press-Gazette
  • New Community Shelter broke ground Tuesday on a $14M supportive housing project in Green Bay that will add 41 one-bedroom apartments for chronically homeless people. The project — which required tearing down seven homes — is expected to finish in less than a year while residents complete an 18 month program and may stay for up to two years.  WTAQ
  • The Brown County Library and The Volunteer Center of Brown County launched a Community Food and Hygiene Drive that runs from November 17th to December 19th to support local pantries amid reports that one in four residents struggles with hunger; donation bins are available at library branches, Bank of Luxemburg locations, and the Volunteer Center (drop-off sites span several local points).  Green Bay News Network
