- ➤ The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay got a $1M gift from alumnus Dr. Paul J. Schilling ’82 to start the Dr. Charles Ihrke Scholarship Fund for new full-time STEM majors with a 3.3 GPA and financial need — it offers a four-year renewable $5,000 award. - ➤ The evergreen tree for the Wisconsin state Capitol Holiday Tree was cut yesterday from Dave and Mary Vander Velden’s tree field near Gillett in Oconto County—another tree from the same field will brighten the governor’s mansion. - ➤ The local Plan Commission approved the Rennes Group proposal for a new assisted living campus on Lineville Road and Red Oak Street on November 17, and the project now awaits Village Board approval on November 24. The 11-acre campus will have (80) apartment-style units, (24) assisted living beds and memory care services with construction set to begin fall, aiming to offer a continuum of care for residents.
