- ➤ Local subcontractors at The Fort at the Railyard in downtown Green Bay reported finally receiving overdue payments after months of work, with one business paid $276,000 while others remain unpaid—city officials said the property owner is addressing construction liens filed by eight firms as residents face ongoing management and repair issues. 94.3 Jack FM
- ➤ A longtime Green Bay garment care business changed ownership when it was taken over by local residents (Cory and Trisha Spice) under the Martinizing Cleaners banner while keeping the 70-year Lindeman’s Cleaning legacy. The five locations will remain open and update services with eco-friendly solutions and modern technology. FOX 11
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay is accepting applications for its first Poet Laureate, a two-year role starting in January that leads public poetry projects at city events (applications open Oct. 23–Nov. 18). The role comes with a $3,000 yearly honorarium plus up to $1,000 for projects (candidates must be at least 18 with three years of poetry experience). 94.3 Jack FM

- ➤ Green Bay stores are bustling as Halloween nears with shoppers filling Spirit Halloween and Mejier stores — extra supply trucks are arriving to meet the high demand. The National Retail Federation predicts record spending with Americans expected to spend $13.1 billion on the holiday. 94.3 Jack FM
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Green Bay Area School Board addressed changes to the high school schedule and discussed a $3.5 million budget deficit at Monday night’s meeting. The board proposed shifting to seven 50-minute periods with lunch added as an extra period — block classes may start this winter if approved, and community members spoke at the 5:30 p.m. open meeting. - ➤ St. Norbert College will offer four new majors, a combined business administration bachelors-masters program, and new communications concentrations starting in 2026 after cutting several majors last spring. Some courses will be taught online through Rize—ensuring core classes are led by St. Norbert professors while specialized classes come from partner schools and a $15 million donation from the Norbertine Order backs the changes. - ➤ Green Bay East High School coach Niko Sila remains on leave after a meeting with district officials did not resolve the review of his alleged violations, including transporting players against advice and sending group texts. Extra police were at East and West High Schools on December 16, 2024 after a student reported a potential threat, but officials later said the threat was not real. WNCY
- ➤ Green Bay East High School coach Niko Sila — placed on leave this month — will meet with district leaders later this week to discuss allegations. The district is investigating claims that he gave players rides in a private car and sent encouraging text messages. WBAY
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Green Bay Police partnered with local hospitals on Drug Take Back Day on April 29th, 2022 to collect expired and unused medications that could harm landfills, water systems and public health—275 pounds were gathered from three drop-off locations and later incinerated out-of-state. WTAQ

- ➤ Green Bay officials announced that Hinkle Street, south of W. Mason Street, will be closed from tomorrow until November 26 for utility and pavement work. A temporary detour labeled Right In—Right Out will be set up east of the closure to allow access for businesses along 2200-2300 W. Mason Street South Frontage Road. FOX 11
