COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks will sponsor three planeloads of about 180 veterans and guardians on Stars & Stripes Honor Flight’s 84th mission, which will depart from Green Bay’s Austin-Straubel International Airport and Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport on November 1st to visit memorials in Washington, D.C.—including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Marine Corps/Iwo Jima Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery. This sixth annual event honors American heroes with an all-expenses-paid trip and a special return welcome for the veterans.  Green Bay News Network

  • Country music star Luke Combs will perform at Lambeau Field on May 16, 2026 as part of his My Kinda Saturday Night Tour—with special guests Dierks Bentley and Ty Myers—in the field’s first major concert since 2019. His fan club will begin advance ticket sales on Oct. 14 at 10 a.m.—with presale for Packers partners and season ticket holders on Oct. 16 followed by general sales on Oct. 17.  WTAQ
  • Green Bay is hosting many fall events this weekend with Zoo Boo at the New Zoo in Suamico from 4 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 10, 'Don't Squeeze the Charmin' at Meyer Theatre on Oct. 10 and 11, and the Gamblers game at 7 p.m. today — additional activities include the Great Pumpkin Train at the National Railroad Museum, pumpkin carving at Titletown’s Pumpkin Palooza, Cirque Italia’s water show at Bay Park Square, and The Great Gatsby Ballet at UW-Green Bay on Oct. 11.  UW-Green Bay

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Green Bay school board will review a $312.9 million budget with a $3.6 million deficit in two meetings at 200 S. Broadway. The board will hold a work session at 5 p.m. on Oct 13—where CFO Angie Roble presents the budget—and a public hearing with a vote at 5:30 p.m. on Oct 27.  WNCY
  • Green Bay Area Public School District started requiring clear backpacks for students in grades 6 to 12 on September 22, and student leaders now suggest that teachers use clear backpacks to show they are part of the same safety effort — a recommendation that district officials and the Education Association say will be evaluated at upcoming school board meetings. Officials stressed that the decision for educators will depend on their specific safety needs and materials.  94.3 Jack FM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wisconsin lawmakers passed a bill that will fine people up to $200 for falsely calling a pet a service animal and up to $500 for further violations — the law also requires renters to show a 30-day proof from a health professional for an emotional support animal. The bill is headed to the Senate and is expected to be signed by Gov. Evers to protect those who rely on trained animals.  94.3 Jack FM
  • Today, Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport marks Fire Prevention Month by highlighting its Public Safety Department—trained to prevent fires, respond to emergencies, and work with federal agencies to keep travelers and staff safe as the holiday season nears.  Green Bay News Network
  • Wisconsin lawmakers passed Assembly Bill 366, which fines people up to $200 or $500 for falsely claiming a pet is a service animal—Rep. Tittl said the bill will move to the Senate and Gov. Tony Evers is expected to sign it.  WNCY

SPORTS NEWS

  • The UWGB men’s basketball team will retire Keifer Sykes’ No. 24 jersey tomorrow at the Kress Center in an exhibition game, honoring his rise from a young recruit to a school legend. Sykes will host a free camp for kids at Green Bay East from 10 a.m. to noon and begin his role as team general manager — a move to mentor players and boost local recruiting efforts.  UW-Green Bay
